Relax with us by the fire while you watch the boats and the famous canal locks. This is the real Scotland; romantic and picturesque where you can see and feel the history around you and meet the locals for a dram!

The Bothy Restaurant and Bar

Join us for that well-earned drink after a long hard day - there is plenty of good quality accommodation in the village so you can really relax- please don’t drink & drive.
Just beside the Great Glen Way, we welcome all walkers - a hot meal, a pint of real ale and a roaring coal fire and you'll be all set for the next hike. Or, you can relax with our live music sessions - traditional & modern music Mondays and Wednesday with David Holt. You're welcome to join ceilidh!

We serve snacks and a full selection of hot freshly cooked meals during the day too whether it’s just a quick coffee with a homebaked scone, home-made soup and a roll, a juicy roast beef filled baguette or hot toasted sandwich - try our famous ‘Haggis’ toastie!

Incidentally the word ‘bothy’ means a ‘friendly house’ - traditionally a welcome rest from the elements where food and shelter were offered to travellers. A bothy is also place of refuge for shepherds or hill-walkers caught out on the hills by bad weather. We hope you will enjoy our version of The Bothy - a traditional friendly house.
